Subject: 2025 Underhill Society of America Annual Fund Drive

Dear Member of the Underhill Family:

As a member of the Underhill family, your direct connection to the family’s history and genealogy is through the Underhill Society of America, Inc. The Underhill name can be found in many important aspects of North American history, and our Forebears were located and influential throughout the many regions of the United States and Canada.

The Underhill Society of America supports important individual initiatives and long-term projects that ensure the collection, preservation, and dissemination of Underhill family histories and memorabilia, as well as the tracing of Underhill family genealogies. Your membership in the Society and your support for the Annual Fund Drive make this work possible.

Our main project for 2025-2026 is the publication of Underhill Genealogy Vols. 9, 10, and 11, which will be the most current and comprehensive genealogy on Capt. John Underhill descendants! Our genealogist is wrapping up the last 2 chapters, and we have a professional Indexer working on it at this time. We are beginning to reach out to potential publishers and considering our publishing options for this important work done by our volunteer genealogist and his associates! They are continually tracing and cataloging the many branches of the Underhill family tree. A future project is updating the genealogy of other Underhill families that migrated to North America.

Another main project includes the Underhill Archives office, located in Oyster Bay, NY, which features unique and historical documents, personal written family histories, and numerous Underhill artifacts. Since last year, important Underhill historical artifacts have been found and purchased by the Society, such as an 1807-08 mill pay book, in delicate condition, belonging to Abraham Underhill of Westchester Co. We’ve acquired several books written by Underhill descendants along with silverware created by Underhill silversmiths down to small brass buttons used by the Underhill Manufacturing Co. The archives have received numerous donated items over the past year to include family silver, embroidered textiles, and family portraits. We are happy to be able to preserve for all to enjoy. The Archives are managed by a professional archivist and are available for viewing by Underhill family members and by external researchers.

In addition, the Society publishes a newsletter, The News & Views, and an annual educational publication, the Bulletin, which features articles about historic events and Underhill family members. The Society generously donates copies of the Bulletin and our newsletter, News & Views, to numerous libraries across the U. S. and Canada for research purposes.

The Board of the Underhill Society asks for your donation to the 2025 Annual Fund Drive to support all of the above projects and initiatives, as well as collaborative historical events held throughout the year, educating and celebrating the important events which occurred in the Oyster Bay vicinity, and notably, the Underhill family’s role in them.

Donations can be made directly by check using the enclosed pre-addressed return envelope. Instructions are attached. Be assured that 100% of your donation will go to support the ongoing work of your Underhill Society of America, Inc.

Thank you for your support.
